How do solar panels power your home, and how can an investment in solar save you money? This 2D & 3D animated explainer video created in collaboration with Quickdraw Productions for Maximum Solar Properties answers these questions in an approachable and engaging way.
This explainer video follows the journey of photons travelling from the sun to a solar panel, being converted into usable energy, and interacting with the power grid. The concept was initially explored through sketched storyboards.
The 2D/3D hybrid animation style was made possible by using cryptomattes from Cinema 4D as masks in After Effects for looping hand-drawn 2D textures. This allowed me to incorporate both engaging dimensionality and playful textures and colors.
